The Slovenian kata national team delivered an outstanding performance at its final competition before the European Championships, which will take place in Sarajevo in May. The Slovenian anthem was played three times in Radom, an encouraging sign ahead of the highlight of the season.

In the junior katame-no-kata competition, Kara and Keno Kojc once again came out on top, just as they had a little over a month ago. With this new victory, they strengthened their position at the top of the world ranking list. For the sister and brother, this is already their third major success in a row since winning last year’s European Championships, and in May they will defend their European title in Sarajevo.

The older sisters Kora and Kira Kojc also delivered an excellent performance, taking victory in the senior katame-no-kata competition. Their win confirmed that they are in very strong form ahead of the European Championships.

Benjamin Mehić and Tina Jaklič finished just outside the podium places, taking an unfortunate fourth place in ju-no-kata.

In the nage-no-kata final, Kati and Nuša Ambrožič competed well and ultimately finished in sixth place.

Tomotu Mihaljeviću and Titu Karanjacu Krofliču narrowly missed out on a place in the katame-no-kata final, falling short by just two points.

Alja Rovšek and Jaka Hazdovac also made their debut at the European Kata Cup, finishing in sixth place in the junior nage-no-kata competition.

The Slovenian pairs in adapted nage-no-kata also achieved an exceptional result in Radom, winning all three sets of medals. Matej David and Nuša Ambrožič claimed first place, Aljaž Colarič and Tina Pestotnik finished second, and Tina Skerlep and Kati Ambrožič took third.

In addition to the athletes’ achievements, Slovenian kata judge Darko Krašovec also recorded an important success, having passed the examination for continental judge in koshiki-no-kata. He now holds licenses to officiate all seven competitive kata.
