The Slovenian team achieved an outstanding result at the European Kata Championships, which are taking place this weekend in Sarajevo. Kora Kojc, Kira Kojc, Kara Kojc, Keno Kojc, Tomo Mihaljević, and Tito Karanjac Kroflič became European champions in ENBU kata.

ENBU is a new form of kata in which 2 to 6 competitors can perform together. In a 2- to 3-minute performance, the team demonstrates judo techniques, as well as elements found in traditional kata, combat and self-defence, while highlighting dynamics, creativity, coordination and team spirit.

A total of 346 competitors from 26 European countries are competing in Sarajevo, including 9 Slovenian pairs. The Slovenian national team began its performances today, with the first four pairs already stepping onto the tatami.

In the new team-based kata format, the Slovenian squad showed excellent coordination, technical knowledge, and a confident performance, deservedly claiming the top step of the podium.

The championship continues tomorrow, when the reigning European champions in junior Katame-no-kata, Kara Kojc and Keno Kojc, will also compete, along with four Slovenian pairs in adapted Nage-no-kata.

Congratulations to the European champions, their coaches, and the entire Slovenian team on this outstanding achievement at the European Championships in Sarajevo.
